A lot of the time, the mind uses the questions "why?" and "what if?" to prove and disprove, to imagine possibilities, to explore potentialities in the regions of maybes. For example, creating and designing a garden. It works out most of the time, if not, back to the drawing board. Excellent.
Then, there are the times when the mind uses the questions "why?" and "what if?" as it sinks deeper and deeper into the dark, dank mire of its own creation because the material used to generate possibilities is negative, not a ray of hope as it's depending on itself . It is in these times that "why?" becomes a torture device instead of a helpful, beneficial tool. The futility of "why?" grinds the pain and hurt like salt into an open wound. The same goes with "what if?" as the mind spirals tighter and tighter trying to figure-out, manipulate, manage, sweet-talk, brown-nose, people-please, rescue, do for others what they are able to do for themselves, etc. to force its own solutions on itself and others as if it has the power to do so. It thinks it is the solution to all its problems AND everybody elses. Then the mind is a terrible place to be in because it only knows what it thinks it knows. It lacks the power to know or be more than it knows or is as it creates hell on earth leaving a trail of debris in its spiritual ignorance. "Nothing is as terrible to see as ignorance in action"---Goethe
Lack of power is our dilemma. I may have the power to plant a seed, water and care for it but I do not have the power to make it grow. The only true life-giving power is the grace which comes from the Great Spirit, the Higher Power I choose to call GOD. Simple concept but hard as heck to get and do because not only do I tend to complicate things, I also forget I am not GOD. I may be a "god", a "godlet", a part of GOD like a child is part of their parent, but I am not GOD, The Source, The Great Spirit, The One, The Boss Eternal of the Universe, etc.
The operative questions that dynamically help are "what?" and "how?". What do I do now and how do I do it? The spiritual solution to ALL my problems is in these answers:
- What I do is work the 12 Steps.
- How I do this is is with Honesty, keeping an Open mind and the Willingness to Accept.
- When I do this simple work then a bridge is created that spans the Great Divide
- Where the Higher Power, the Source of All, steps over the steppes to reign Supreme in the Sunlight of the Spirit.
Then all is well in the Kingdom of GOD and all is well in my soul. Just for today.
